Jack & Laura

It was a warm September night when two teams met in the Houston city beach volleyball championships. Jack’s team was destined for glory. Laura’s was destined to become a footnote in a wedding story 7 years later (that’s the footnote). After the utter dismantling of the lesser team, Team Soundbar nobly shared their bar tab winnings with Laura’s team. This generosity caught the eye of the best player on Laura’s team, Laura. Looking to join a winning squad, Laura batted her eyes and got herself recruited for Soundbar’s flag football team (thanks Joe). After proving herself invaluable on the football field, Jack and Laura were a pair that would always be on the same team.

After 6 years and many games, concerts, vacations, motorcycle rides, friends’ weddings, gentle nudges from loving family, snowboarding trips, Soundbar parties, pumpkin parties, camping trips, and 1 deposit on a handsome golden retriever named Moose later, Jack and Laura were vacationing in Key West. Jack enlisted the help of his sister Kat and brother-in-law Peter to help him propose during a famous Key West sunset. The group went to the sunset celebration in Mallory Square and watched a beautiful sunset, but no proposal happened. While the scenery was great, it was a bit too crowded. Jack knew, like he always had, that the timing was just not right. A whole fifteen minutes later, while walking along the harbor with plenty of golden hour light left, the perfect opportunity arose. Jack popped the question to a very loud “Of Course!” from his forever teammate, Laura.
